How long will it take to see results?

Many participants begin to see small changes within 3-7 days of following the recipes in the app, in the form of a reduction of redness, skin inflammation, and bumps. Depending on the current state of the skin, diet and lifestyle habits, and adherence to program, substantial clearance generally takes between 4-12 weeks.

I've eliminated dairy/sugar/[insert food here] but still break out. Will this work for me?

Often people are skeptical that diet can have a significant impact on their skin, especially if they tried an elimination or two, and their skin didn’t clear up. While dairy is a common, well established acne trigger, there are many possible acne-genic foods as well as underlying root causes of acne, such as gut imbalance, hormone imbalance, blood sugar imbalance, stress, chronic inflammation, and nutrient deficiencies. So, simply removing a food or two or three, is often not enough to eradicate acne. Additionally, we each have our own unique history, genetics, and biochemistry - which means there is not one clear skin diet that works for everyone. That’s why Clear Skin Rx takes an individualized, whole body approach to acne in order to address the various underlying root causes. When it comes to diet, we help you figure out the eliminations and the additions YOU need to clear your skin, and pair it with a protocol to address any imbalances of the gut, body, and even mind. I already eat healthy. Will this work for me?

Most likely, yes. Everyone’s definition of healthy is slightly different. And, because we each have our own history, genetics, and biochemistry, the healthiest diet for each of us is actually different, too. Acne is a sign of inflammation and imbalance, so there is likely room for improvement. Sometimes it’s tiny tweaks that make a world of difference.

I’ve tried [insert acne medication here] and it didn’t work. Will this?

Most popular acne medications target the symptoms of acne, not the root cause: inflammation. That’s why they don’t work for many people, long term anyway. Diet and stress management are the two primary levers we have to control inflammation. So, they may be the most effective remedy.

Can I still use my skincare while on this plan?

Acids, peels, and lasers, oh my! It seems like the current trend in skincare is the harsher, the better. But, acne prone-skin is already red, irritated, and angry - so why exacerbate it with harsh products that disrupt the skin barrier and induce more peeling, flaking, and redness? At Kuma, we know that diet and lifestyle do the heavy lifting for clearing the skin, so harsh topicals are not recommended. Instead, we advocate for a minimal amount of simple, natural, highly effective skincare products to address current outbreaks and scarring.

I mostly eat out / don't like to cook. Can I still do this plan?

Yes, we’re all for convenience, so we provide you with a comprehensive plan for eating and ordering out. Although, our recipes are so simple and delicious (many require less than 5 minutes of prep time and are done start-to-finish in 20 minutes or less), we bet you’ll be tempted to spend more time in the kitchen! Note that the best, quickest results will come from choosing high quality, nourishing ingredients, which you have more control over at home.
